About Me

I’m an Assistant Professor in the Visual Analysis & Perception (VAP) Lab at Aalborg University’s Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology. I am also a Research Consultant with Milestone Systems A/S and a member of the HPC Advisory & Governance Board at the Danish Pioneer Centre for AI (P1). I earned my Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision from Aalborg University in 2023, where I was advised by Kamal Nasrollahi and Thomas B. Moeslund, and I serve as an external examiner for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering.

My research focuses on computer vision, image reconstruction, and computational photography, particularly where these technologies meet challenging real-world applications such as surveillance and forensics. A recurring theme in my work is building vision systems that are not only accurate, but reliable and useful in practice. I work end-to-end, spanning problem formulation, dataset design, model development, evaluation, and deployment on embedded and GPU platforms. My work has also resulted in multiple patents in image processing.

I teach Deep Learning, Image Processing & Computer Vision, Machine Vision & Machine Learning, and MLOps, and supervise students at the BSc, MSc, and PhD levels. I’m motivated by research that pushes the state of the art while creating measurable impact in practice, and by teaching that sparks curiosity, develops deep understanding, and gives students the skills to turn ideas into working solutions.
